An online map of United States Quaternary faults (faults that have been active in the last 1.6 million years) is available via the Quaternary Fault and Fold Database. The high seismic risk posed by this fault zone requires a large-scale active faults map, a fundamental data set for seismic hazard mitigation. This map gives an overview of geologically young faults and is intended to help in evaluation of the potential activity of faulting nationally.
