The numerous adventures of a friendly staff at a country veterinarian practice in 1930s to 1940s Yorkshire. In 1937, a young, newly-qualified veterinarian surgeon, James Herriot arrives in the picturesque village of Darrowby to take up his first job in the established veterinary practice of Sigfried and Tristan Farnon. James gladly accepts and things are going well until one of Mr. Alderson's cows falls ill and James is unable to save it. Stories about a country vet in "remote" northern England may not sound too enticing, but these episodes are based on true-life events in the life of country vet James Herriot (not his real name), but the books these TV episodes are based on were written in first-person, and the translation to the TV screen is exceptional. If you're a fan of the series and can find these boxed sets for sale, snap them up when you can, even if they're used. James however thinks Helen's father doesn't think much of him and that overall, he's a very poor catch. The landscape looked exactly the same as it did in the series, and the series depicts an even older timeframe. Hasn't lost its charm at all. ... Siegfried's younger brother Tristan returns to Darrowby from veterinary college having once again failed his exams. The film quality suffers a bit as compared to current standards, but that will not affect your ability to enjoy the wonderful stories in the life of a Veterinary practice in 1930's England. Back at the practice, Siegfried is particularly harried and Tristan announces that he must return to Edinburgh to take his final exams.
