Let's Spend the Night Together is an extremely rare (in fact, almost totally unknown outside of Japan) 1983 Japanese Docu-drama, shot on 16mm film (hence the films grainy appearance), starring actual Yanki gang members as many of the main characters. Two Navy men are ordered to bring a young offender to prison, but decide to show him one last good time along the way. The other problem was that they had played this material too many times; what you see and hear in "Let's Spend..." is a great band simply going through the motions. The
idea, I guess, is to provide visual counterpoint to the Stones' apocalyptic

seriously symbolic. By 1981 the Stones were beginning to struggle under the weight of their own legacy, and it shows in "Let's Spend the Night Together".
It is well filmed with multiple cameras and although not peak period stones, it is a good document of the times. The best passages involve Jagger, who is just
about the whole show, with the exception of a truncated It's fun, but it's about the only time we see
the audience in this movie; Ashby apparently made a directorial decision to
keep the audience in long-shot, making them into a collective, pulsating mass.
