If you really only like fast-paced page-turners, do NOT pick up this book. A real treat - I recommend this to anyone who loves to read and loves to laugh.I read all these as a teenager and forgot just how great they are, perfect reading for when you're starting a new job and bumbling around making mistakes as James Herriot feels your pain and writes of his experiences with such self effacing humour you've just got to love him. He has the ability to take even the simplest of situations and turn it into something amusing and often inspirational. I can’t ever get enough.I love books that I can read often in between other books. With John Alderton, Colin Blakely, Lisa Harrow, Bill Maynard. Not my usual kind of read but my mother-in-law randomly gave this to me to read and it proved to be incredibly enjoyable.
