Chew Philly Food Tours aren't about me - the heros are the many deserving eateries featured as our tasting locations. The tour guide was excellent and very informed of the local history and happenings. While our olive oil and vinegar tasting is frequently cited as a favorite aspect of our tour, we understand that it wasn't your personal preference. During each 2.5-hour journey, groups visit multi-generationally owned restaurants like McNally's, Sorrentino's, and Marchiano's, bakeries, and grocery stores— many of which have been around for decades—where merchants show off their specialties to curious palates.
Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather, and can anticipate a scenic stroll through these charming, tree-lined districts while enjoying a filling progressive lunch. And lots more, in a charming neighborhood with a great local guide, rich history and a train to downtown. Our guide Amy was fun and witty, and provided great insight into the local community and cuisine. This isn't so much a food tour, it's more of an advertisement for local business.

This tour offers 6 tastings, however, the first (McNally's schmitter) and the last (Bredenbeck's sundae) tasting were my personal favorite and offered the most substance. Wonderful tour and great tastings of food! Only a short cab or Uber ride away from "downtown" takes you to a beautiful little neighborhood with amazing food and great atmosphere.
